Kupper Claire

Claire Kupper is a head of research at GRIP; she oversees the “Conflicts, Security and Governance in Africa” research unit.

Claire Kupper has a university degree in History of Art and Archaelogy. Prior to joining GRIP in 2011, she gained extensive experience within the non-profit sector in the humanitarian and development cooperation fields, and within the institutional sector at the European Commission (EuropeAid). She spent several years on the ground, mainly in Africa (Ivory Coast, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda among others).

She coordinates the research work on the causes of insecurity (armed violence, transnational criminality, natural resources management) in Central Africa and West Africa. On a wider scale, she works on conflict issues in Africa (prevention, peace-keeping and –building). Claire Kupper is also in charge of the partnerships with the CSOs and research members of the RAFAL network coordinated by GRIP
